Sport
Coomandook Area School is a school that values it's sporting traditions and excellence. For a small school we achieve above and beyond many of our other counterparts both as a whole and with individual excellence of students. Over the years Coomandook has had students representing South Australia and Australia in sports ranging from trampolining to AFL and many more. Students at Coomandook regularly compete as members of the Upper South East sporting zone and represent both Coomandook and the Upper South East at local and Adelaide based competitions.
At school students are split into two houses, Dukes (red) and Parkin (green) and compete for these houses at our school swimming and athletics carnival. We are also joined on athletics and swimming carnivals by Coonalpyn Primary School whose students also join these houses.
Primary aged students are able to try out for the many Murray Mallee SAPSASA sports with other students from surrounding schools. Students from years four to seven are nominated for swimming and athletics based on their school results and any students from these years may nominate for SAPSASA Cross Country. Students from years six and seven (and some instances year five) are able to nominate and try out for any team sports that are held throughout the year.
Team sports include:
Softball (boys & girls)
Football
Netball
Cricket (boys & girls)
Tennis (boys & girls)
Golf (boys & girls)
As a member of the Upper South East zone secondary students compete in local competitions representing Coomandook and for representative teams that compete at SSSSA sports and Knock Out competitions throughout the year. Students get selected for athletics, swimming and cross country events based on their school and USE interschool results. For all other sports students can nominate and try out for sports as they arise.
