Occasional Care
The Department for Education delivers an Occasional Care programme from Pre Schools and Child Centres in rural and metropolitan areas throughout South Australia. The focus is to provide care for children in communities where there is limited child care options.
The aim is to:
- Provide families with access to sessional occasional care, targeting children not accessing other early childhood education and care programs
- Enable parents to participate in a range of activities (including non work and casual work commitments)
- Promote young children's development and learning by increasing access to a high quality early childhood education and care programme.
The programme is offered at Coomandook Area School in "The Coop" for children aged Two years or older. It operates for a three hour session each Thursday morning from 9am to 12 noon. Parents/ Carers of children wishing to access the service must provide evidence of their child's immunisation status and ongoing evidence is to be provided in accordance with the protecting children from vaccine preventable disease procedure.
Cost
$5 per session or $1.50 per session for Health Care Card holders.
